PRINCIPLE PHOTOGRAPHY
Production 1
Our first day of production was spent gaining an understanding of how we could light the setting naturally and create a cinematic tone. The pictures seen above were all experimental and weren't taken with the impression they would be used in our film. One shot we spent an hour shooting was the picture above of the clock, which we originally shot as a time lapse in real time over an hour period. Various white balances were tested on an identical framing, the resulting pictures providing a completely different tone than the last. Out of the top six pictures above, the pictures on the left side are the one's that would be used in the cinematography of our film, since they created a colder and more ominous feel.
PRODUCTION 2
Here we focused on the shots on the diary being written which are the constructions of the memory sequences. We also took a series of photographs from various angles that can be referred back to for re-shoots. The shots of the diary we'll primarily be done from three angles, a slightly off-kilt over the shoulder, a direct over the shoulder close up leering over the page and then finally another depicted the diary in an extreme close up.
PRODUCTION 3
On our third production day, we used the time to film retakes of the establishing diary shot by utilizing the low lighting conditions to create an inkier palette. The shot was also taken from a higher angle to give a better view of the writing, we needed to take the eye of the viewer and establish the scene in an angle that is inviting and not invasive.
